Our Earth. How can we help?

There are many ways that we can help do our part to save the Earth. We can save our used bottles, cans, paper, cardboard boxes and recycle them. When we recycle, we take things that we can no longer use, and use them again, or send them off to be made into something new. We can also use these items to make beautiful art projects or presents for our friends and family. We celebrate Earth Day on April 22 each year, but we can make everyday Earth Day by using the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We will talk about how we can use the three R's each day, throughout the year. For now, let us look at some fun web-sites that can get us started!!

http://holidays.kaboose.com/earth-day/index.html - This web-site tells us about Earth Day, and gives us several ideas about how we can do our part to help the Earth.

http://www.familycorner.com/family/kids/crafts/cd_crafts.shtml - This web-site shows us some fun projects that we can make using old CD's, or those CD's that we get in the mail, that we might not want to use. It also has several ideas for making "trash into treasures", by using items that we might throw into the trash, and "reusing" them in a different way.

http://www.templetoncsd.org/refuse6.asp - This is also a great web-site to go to that has many resources for recycling, including picture books and videos, and ideas on how we can recycle everyday!

Think of some items that we throw into the trash, that we might use for something else, and with the help of an adult, write a list and even begin collecting items that we might be able to "reuse". We will be making a list in class too. Let's get started, and make every day Earth Day!!
